with a grade of C or better. Corequisites: CHEM 1100 (Students must register for both CHEM 1100 and CHEM 1101.) This course consists of laboratories that reinforce the concepts covered in CHEM 1100. Students will gain hands-on experience using a variety of laboratory equipment and techniques, the experimental method, and the presentation of scientific data, as well as direct experience with chemical principles with an emphasis on physical and chemical properties, stoichiometry, chemical reaction types, thermochemistry, modern atomic theory, and atomic structure, chemical bonding and bonding theory, and molecular shapes. They will also learn problem-solving and critical thinking skills. This course must be taken concurrently with CHEM 1100. (One three-hour laboratory period per week.)
