with a grade of C or better. Corequisites: CHEM 1101 - General Chemistry Lab I (1) A first course in chemistry designed for science majors. Topics covered include: atoms, molecules, and ions; calculations with chemical formulas and equations; an introduction to chemical reactions; the gaseous state; thermochemistry; quantum theory of the atom; electron configurations and periodicity; ionic and covalent bonding; molecular geometry; and chemical bonding theories. (Three lectures and one recitation per week)
