3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s) This course is an introduction to the principles, values, and critical areas of study within the field of community psychology. An interdisciplinary perspective is used to discuss the historical development and philosophical premise of community psychology. The roles of social systems and geographic factors frame the behavior of individuals and their capacity for empowerment, well-being, and social change. Topical areas include community development, dimensions of diversity, social prevention and intervention, and social / racial justice.
