Catalog description

This course focuses on the study and development of nursing knowledge in the areas of pathophysiology and pharmacology as foundations for evidence-based, patient-centered care. Differentiation of normal and abnormal physiological functioning; identification of the etiology of the pathophysiological alterations in illness across the lifespan, and exploration of concomitant pharmacological agents are explored. Using evidence, the basis for evaluating the effectiveness of pharmacological agents is presented. Knowledge from pathophysiology and pharmacokinetics will be integrated to develop clinical decision-making skills that result in positive outcomes across the lifespan and healthcare delivery settings. .
