1 Lecture Hour(s) 1 Lab Hour(s) This course is designed to introduce students to the basic performance tools and techniques necessary for guitar performance. It aims to introduce the basic techniques of sound production, positioning, intonation, time, rhythm, subdivision, flexibility, articulation for different types of music, range, repertoire, and improvisation. The module also deals with practicing and performing simple scales, chords, etudes, standards, tunes, and pieces. It exposes students to basic transcription techniques of simple tunes through listening to various recordings. The module guides students using basic technical books and materials that teach techniques, instrument methods for individual study, and time management. It also introduces the practical application of the basic expression marks, dynamics, and jazz articulation.
