Women and Gender in African History

3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s) This course will analyze historical transformations in Africa and their effects on women’s lives and gender relations. Themes include the role of women in pre-colonial and colonial societies, religious change, urban labor, nationalism, and sexuality. This course will also explore the changing roles of women in twenty-first century Africa.
