Dimensions of Literacy

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the various dimensions of Literacy. Literacy will be studied from linguistic, cognitive, sociocultural, developmental and educational perspectives, linking theory and research to practice. The topical foci include the nature of language, oral-written language relations, reading comprehension, writing processes, literacy as social practice and the teaching of literacy skills.
