3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s) This course will focus on the careful reading and discussion of the African-American novel from the 20th century to the present. Attention will be given to the various aspects of the traditions that have nourished the African-American novel as an art form and cultural interpreter of the Black experience in America. Among the authors’ works to be examined are Zora Neale Hurston, John A. Williams, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, Richard Wright, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, and Gloria Naylor.
