3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s) This course surveys the genre of autobiographical writing from the 18th century to the 20th century as expression of the Black experience in America from slavery to freedom. Focus will be given to the historical and literary importance of major autobiographical writers, as well as their works - particularly slave narratives, letters, and other forms of autobiographical writing.
