3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s) This course explores methods in science instruction with an emphasis in concept development in several areas of K-6 science as defined by national and state standards. The teacher candidates will engage in research-based practices, specifically core teaching practices such as inquiry, discovery, and investigation-based science lessons. Through an inquiry-based approach, the teacher candidates will not only gain familiarity with lab experiments, lab safety, and science demonstrations but develop their pedagogical understandings of how K-6 students engage with science content. Prerequisite: Admission to Educator Preparation. Co-requisites are ELED 310 and ELED 312. Credit 3(3-0). (F; S)
