3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s) The course is an introduction to the separation and purification of biochemicals. Separation processes are characterized as removal of insolubles, isolation of products, and purification or polishing. Processes covered include filtration, centrifugation, cell disruption, extraction, absorption, elution chromatography, precipitation, ultrafiltration, electrophoresis and crystallization. Students are required to complete a design project on a bioseparation process.
