Catalog description

This course introduces the theory and application of engineering mechanics as it relates to statically determinant and statically in-determinant systems. Stress and deformation due to axial, torsional, and beam bending loads are introduced. Also, the course covers the analysis of stress and strain, stress-strain relationship; torsional and flexural loading; flexural deflection; combined loading; column, unsymmetrical bending of wing sections, torsion of skin-stringer and multi-cell sections, flexural shear in open and closed sections, Shear Center and failure criteria. Also includes demonstration of behavior of some simple structural elements.
