Aero Materials Science

Catalog description

This course deals with the relationships between the structure of materials and their properties and performance. Topics include: (1) atomic structure and chemical bonding, (2) crystal structure, (3) defects, (4) phase diagrams, and (5) physical properties including mechanical, electrical, and magnetic. The course will also introduce modern materials for aerospace engineering applications including composites, nanomaterials and metamaterials.
