Catalog description

This course is designed to enhance the cultural competencies of students within a social work framework. Provides content on differences and similarities in the experiences, needs, and beliefs of people distinguished by and a critical examination of social constructs including but not limited to: sex, gender, sexual orientation, class, race, ethnicity, age, ability, social roles. Includes overviews of social work and sociological theories and research on how these effects organize systems of inequality and various ethical considerations for meeting the needs of globally diverse populations in the field of social work. Lecture 3 hours per week.
