Catalog description

This course provides instruction in the identification, preparation, and repair of automotive plastics and the proper selection and application of structural and non-structural adhesives and sealers used in collision repair. Students learn plastic identification methods, surface preparation techniques, repair procedures for thermoplastic and thermoset materials, and refinishing considerations. Instruction includes adhesive bonding principles, OEM approved bonding and riveting procedures, corrosion protection, seam sealing, sound deadening materials, and proper curing methods. Emphasis is placed on safety, material handling, manufacturer repair guidelines, and quality control standards. Lecture 2 hours per week.
