Catalog description

A study of the history and literature of the genre of musicals from 19 century to present day. Emphasis placed on the stylistic distinctions of the musical and the contribution of individual composers, librettists, lyricists, choreographers, directors, and designers to the genre of musical theatre. Students will study the genre’s social and cultural significance as a separate and distinctive art form. 54.00 hours lecture. (Letter grade only)
