Catalog description

An introduction to the basic concepts relating to the study of society. Includes investigation into the foundations of sociology including its overall perspective, theoretical orientations, and research methodology; the foundations of social life including the components of culture, social interaction and the process of socialization, groups, organizations, and deviance; economic social inequality based upon class, race, sex, and age; social institutions; and dimensions of social change. Students may not receive credit for both SOC-1 and 1H. 54.00 hours lecture. (Letter grade only)
