Honors Biological Psychology

Catalog description

This honors course explores the scientific study of brain-behavior relationships and mental processes. Issues addressed include historical scientific contributions and current research principles for studying brain-behavior associations and mental processes, basic nervous system structure and function, sensory and motor systems, emotion, motivation, learning and memory, sleep and dreaming, and neurological and mental disorders. Ethical standards for human and animal research are discussed in the context of both invasive and non-invasive experimental investigations. This honors course offers an enriched experience for accelerated students through limited class size, seminar format, focus on primary texts, and application of higher level critical thinking skills. Students may not receive credit for both PSYC-2 and PSYC-2H. 54.00 hours lecture. (Letter grade only)
