Catalog description

PMHNP Lifespan III focuses on the management of chronic and treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders, building upon advanced knowledge of psychiatric assessments, pharmacology, and therapeutic interventions. Learners will critically evaluate current research and apply evidence-based approaches to develop complex treatment plans that integrate pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies. Special emphasis is placed on managing co-occurring mental health and medical conditions, with advanced exploration of psychopharmacology, including off-label uses, polypharmacy, and the management of side effects. This course emphasizes leadership in healthcare systems, advocacy for mental health reform, and the development of skills in leading interdisciplinary care teams. Students will further develop expertise in managing complex psychiatric cases in vulnerable and underserved populations, incorporating cultural competence and ethical frameworks into decision-making. This is the third course in the PMHNP didactic series.
