Catalog description

The Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Advocacy & Diversity in OT course is designed to enable the post professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy Student to learn, develop and apply leadership, advocacy, and entrepreneurship skills in alignment with principles of diversity, equity and inclusion and which are guided by foundational, theoretical, and evidence-based approaches in occupational therapy. Students will become leaders and agents of change by addressing sociopolitical issues through advocacy in occupational therapy. Students will incorporate multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches for developing traditional and novel practices, products, and services, which emphasize ethical, equitable, cultural, social and environmental factors. The student will learn and demonstrate the ability to transform innovative policy-driven ideas into an outline for academic curriculums, community-based programs, new business plans, and grant proposals geared towards positive change at the local, national and global level. The PPOTD student will explore training and certification resources in leadership, diversity, equity & inclusion via AOTA and related sources.
