Advanced Professional/Clinical Reasoning & Interprofessional Practice

Catalog description
This course enables students to understand and apply ethical principles, sociocultural factors, and advanced clinical and professional reasoning approaches for working with individuals, groups and populations across the lifespan and within interprofessional practice settings. This course introduces the students to the professional concept of interprofessional education and collaboration (IPEC) and its importance in promoting the highest quality and most comprehensive health care for clients, groups, and populations. The key components of IPEC values/ethics, roles/responsibilities, interprofessional communication, and teamwork will be explored via case studies, readings, and group exercises. Students will also demonstrate advanced knowledge of relevant and current evidence-based practice in alignment with local, state, federal and global regulations. This will serve to inform and guide best practices and initiatives for multi- disciplinary and cross-collaborative professionals.
