Introduction to Occupational Therapy: History and Theory

Catalog description

In this course students will explore the history, philosophy, foundational theories, and conceptual frameworks that underpin the fundamental principles of the occupational therapy profession and contemporary practice. Students will also be introduced to the topics of professionalism, ethical principles that guide practice, cultural humility, and the overarching concepts of evidence based clinical decision-making. This course will foster an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the occupational therapy practitioner, as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, across diverse populations and practice settings.
