Pharmacology for Nurses

Catalog description

This course provides students with an overview of pharmacology with an emphasis on clinical applications that are pivotal to safe and effective medication therapy for clients with potential or actual health problems. Both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities will be discussed. Content includes indications, modes of action, effects, contraindications and interactions, and functions for safe medication administration. Specific nursing responsibilities related to medication administration for individuals across the lifespan are emphasized. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisites: Admission to Nursing Program Corequisites: NURS 301, NURS 305, NURS 311 Classroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours – Course Credits: 4-0-4
