Catalog description

The purpose of this 4-week (160 hours) remotely-guided rotation is to equip the learner with the basic tools needed to interpret and carry out clinical research with human subjects. We will provide the learner with a general understanding of the principles of the scientific method, research design and statistical methods for the most common types of clinical research, as well as the ethical and practical factors that need to be considered when conducting research with human subjects. The first three weeks of the rotation will be primarily didactic. Here, the learner is actively engaged with the assigned materials through daily exercises and essays. Accordingly, the three weeks of training will prepare the student for the fourth week where they will evaluate and critique research in a clinical research topic area, with oversight by a faculty member.
