Academic Medicine

Catalog description

The Academic Medicine elective consists of 4 weeks of dedicated study structured to enhance the learner's skills in educational theory, teaching techniques, and/or academic program planning as part of a foundation for a potential career in academic medicine. A designated faculty member will serve as preceptor and mentor in the endeavor. Prior to the beginning of the rotation, the student will submit a description of an academic project, including a brief list of learning objectives he/she expects to achieve. At the end of the elective, the student will submit a brief (1-2 page) report on how successful the experience was at helping him/her to achieve the identified goals.
