Pediatrics

Catalog description

This 4-week clerkship allows students to gain clinical experience in evaluating children (both sick and well) through history taking, physical examinations, and laboratory data. The following hospital-based settings are utilized: inpatient services; newborn nursery; and ambulatory clinic/emergency department. Special emphasis is placed on: growth and development; nutrition; fluid and electrolyte balance; common infections; and preventive pediatrics (accidents, immunizations, poisoning.)
