Introduction to the fundamentals of the finite element methods. Topics include, potential energy, stiffness matrix and load vector, continuity, interpolations, numerical integration, two dimensional elements, triangular elements, rectangular elements, reduced integration, optimal sampling, assembly, steady state field problems, heat conduction, elasticity, transient problems. Covers modeling, mathematical formulation, and computer implementation.
