Catalog description

This course focuses on elementary aspects of mathematical analysis which are commonly used to study problems in applied math. Students will first encounter standard topics in analysis such as metric spaces, sequences, functions, continuity, completeness, and compactness. Later in the course students will be introduced to Hilbert spaces and basic operator theory, along with relevant applications in differential and integral equations, Fourier analysis, and approximation theory. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisites: MATH 260 (Calculus III), MATH 310 (Linear Algebra), and MATH 320 (Differential Equations) Classroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours – Course Credits: 3-0-3
