Catalog description
This course will help journalism students master the basics of sports writing and reporting for the digital era. Students will experience a wide range of writing assignments, including game coverage, advances, sidebars, features, blogs , off-field issues and the role of social media in sports reportage. You will also become familiar with the canon of great sports journalism, and get to read critically some of that work. Thoughtful review of issues such as ethics, objectivity, fairness, diversity, the evolution of sports journalism and the continuing impact of new technologies will be included, as well as practical hints for building skills the craft requires.
