Introduction to Journalism

Catalog description

This course provides a survey of evolution of the American press and its influence in our democratic society. Freedom of the press and social responsibilities are emphasized along with the professional goals, qualities, and ethics of a journalist. Technical developments and organizational structure in print and broadcast journalism are also explored. Various types and styles of journalism and profiles of prominent journalists are covered through a survey of literature. Career opportunities in journalism are also discussed.
