American History III Civil Rights Movement to Present

Catalog description

This course covers the period between the start of the Civil Rights Movement to the present time, from Selma to current LGBTQ+ rights. It will include comprehensive topics such as 1) relevant Supreme Court cases, from the Korematsu case to the recent abortion rights and Affirmative Action reversal decisions; 2) change of economic and business direction from Keynesianism to Supply-Side, and the state rights over federal rights; 3) the course of the Cold War and various other wars that US has been involved in, including the present ones; 3) Social changes toward a more equitable society and equality, 4) immigration; and 5) environmental movements and concerns.
