Catalog description

As urban populations rise, cities face growing environmental issues and sustainability challenges. This course examines local and global case studies and solutions to environmental problems common in urban communities, such as sustainable design and planning, public health, waste management, food and water supply, disaster recovery and resiliency, aging infrastructure and transportation planning. Students will explore the interconnectedness between environmental protection, sustainable development, population density, public health, economic viability, and social equity. Discussions will focus on how cities can best manage their natural resources to create clean and healthy environmental for all residents. Classroom Hours- Laboratory and/or Studio Hours- Course Credits: 3-0-3
