Literacy and Communication Seminar

Catalog description
Candidates explore a variety of speaking, listening, writing, and viewing materials from a wide range of sources as they enact and prepare middle childhood and adolescent student work in the context of New York State and National Council of Teachers of English standards. Candidates create and carry out exercises that address the full range of thinking skills and intelligences, while exploring opportunities to integrate literacy and composition across the curriculum. Current research, theory, and best practice guide candidates as they explore different approaches to literacy and communication, and determine appropriate methods of assessment, giving special attention to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) students and others with restricted command of the language. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisite: EDPC 605
