Catalog description
This course introduces the behavior of soils subjected to loads, elastic and inelastic wave propagation in soils, ground motion, machine foundations, wave effects on structures, seismic studies, and the processes of consolidation and compaction. Students will learn the effective stress concepts, stress and settlement analyses, evaluation of shear strength, and geotechnical engineering design concepts. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisites: MENG 221 Classroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours – Course Credits: 3-0-3
