Biological and Medical Debates

Catalog description

This course explores contemporary debates at the intersection of biology, medicine and ethics. Each week, students will critically evaluate the science behind each topic, including ongoing controversies in various fields including medicine, research, technology, biotechnology, animal welfare, etc. Through individual and group preparation, in class structured debates, and participation, students will develop a deeper understanding of the science/technology behind various medical and societal issues, as well as to engage in ethical, political, and economic considerations that are usually associated with these debates. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisites: Any BIOL 300 level course. Corequisites: Any BIOL 300 level course. Classroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours – Course Credits: 3-0-3
