Catalog description

Introduction to the mechanics and thermodynamics of high-speed compressible flows. Topics covered include one-dimensional equations for compressible flow, normal shock waves, oblique shock waves, quasi-1D flow, transient flow, small perturbation theory, the methods of characteristics, intake and nozzle design for turbojet engines, chemical rockets nozzle design. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequsites: MENG 240, MENG 340 Classroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours – Course Credits: 3-0-3
