Catalog description

Review of basic incompressible and compressible flows, introduction to oblique shock waves, PrandtlMeyer flows. Detailed airfoil analyses including effects on lift and drag of angle of attack, Reynolds number, compressibility. Three-dimensional considerations: qualitative discussion of down-wash and circulation, quantitative aspects of this type of flow. Boundary layer theory: simple ideas, flat plate flows, calculation formulae. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisite: MATH 320 and MENG 340 Classroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours – Course Credits: 3-0-3
