1 section
Catalog description
The Business of Hip-Hop condenses forty years of hip-hop's business evolution into an immersive seven-week exploration. Students will examine how hip-hop grew from block parties and bootleg tapes into a global, multi-billion-dollar industry influencing fashion, sports, tech, and media. Through lectures, case studies, and hands-on projects, students will learn how artists, executives, and entrepreneurs built empires that merged music, branding, and culture—from Sugar Hill Records to Roc Nation, from mixtapes to streaming, from the streets to Silicon Valley.
