Professional Development: Building Career Skills

Catalog description
The purpose of this course is to help students develop and build career skills they need to effectively identify, compete, and secure internships, professional opportunities and jobs before and after they graduate. Students also reflect on the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired in the major and how they can be leveraged now and in the future. Topics covered include: exploration of career opportunities, identification of strengths, resume development, technical writing, interviewing skills, and personal branding for careers. The course is taught by faculty who are professional practitioners in the field. Instruction is supplemented by invited guest speakers and industry professionals who will provide a realistic perspective for breaking into and succeeding in the field.
