New York University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
In an era where data-driven decision-making defines competitive advantage, this course explores the transformative role of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence in commercial real estate (CRE). Students will learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret real estate data to inform investment, asset management, and portfolio decisions. The course begins with a review of basic statistical tools and foundational concepts—covering why data is important in real estate, the types of data used across property sectors, and how analytics enhance underwriting, valuation, and strategies. After that, students will gain practical experience with industry-standard tools like Excel, Power BI, and Python for quantitative analysis and visualization. Building on this foundation, the class introduces Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and Claude, demonstrating how they can streamline research, automate reporting, extract insights from documents, and assist in predictive modeling.
