UX Writing & Content Strategy
New York University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
UX writers craft the words people see, hear, and interact with in digital experiences. Content strategists create the plan for building, delivering, and managing goal-oriented content that balances project objectives and user needs. This UX Writing & Content Strategy course focuses on how content shapes user experiences within digital spaces. Students will examine the strategic decisions that influence content writing in ways that impact experience, access, and meaning. Practicing a user-centered approach, students will analyze existing platforms to identify breakdowns in clarity, tone, and accessibility. Students will then design content solutions to improve usability across user journeys. Emphasis is placed on content audits, research-informed decision-making, and iterative revisions. Through assignments that build across the semester, students will be able to articulate and defend content decisions within broader UX systems as they build portfolio pieces aligned to professional work in UX writing, content strategy, and adjacent experience-focused roles.
