Catalog description

This course will develop your understanding of psychotherapy, including the theoretical foundation, clinical application, and empirical research for each treatment approach. Core principles of psychotherapy will be covered, with an emphasis on individual work with adult patients. Emphasis will be on developing a critical perspective on clinical practice as a therapist, and an appreciation for the importance of psychotherapy research. The main aim of this course is to introduce you to the different evidence-based psychotherapies, and their research evidence. Prerequisite: PSYC-SHU 101 Introduction to Psychology Fulfillment: Social Science Focus Psychology 200 level.
