Internship: Seminar

Catalog description

In-person only; there is no hybrid or remote option. For students engaged in paid or unpaid internships (8 to 15 hours per week of meaningful, supervised work projects; no more than 25% of the work can be clerical or menial in nature) in non-profit and governmental agencies and in for-profit companies. The seminar is graded and facilitates a reflective and analytical approach to experiential learning. Restricted to students who are either 1. pursuing an internship that is not related to their major program of study or 2. pursuing an internship directly related to their major when that academic department does not offer internships for credit during the desired term. In either case, this seminar counts toward the total credits required for the baccalaureate degree. Students keep field journals and write papers that explore various aspects of their agency and related issues. Enrollment is limited and by application only; students must first secure an internship and then complete and submit planning and placement forms to the instructor (Professor Laurel George, [email protected]) before the start of the semester. ALSO NOTE: The University cannot provide liability or any other insurance for placements, as this internship is not required for any CAS program of study or for graduation. Cannot be repeated for credit.
