Neurology Introductory

Catalog description

This is an introductory 2-week elective that seeks to introduce the student to the field of Neurology. As an introductory elective, the student will be expected to gain a broad understanding of the core principles, foundational knowledge, and essential skills relevant to the specialty through encounters with a diverse range of cases reflective of this specialty. Students will gain this experience rotating on the inpatient and consultation stroke, neurology ward and consult, and critical care services at NYU Tisch, NYU Brooklyn, and Bellevue Hospitals. Additionally, the student has the option to spend either the entire rotation or one week of the rotation in a subspecialty clinic such as: General Neurology, Neuromuscular Disease, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Headache, Pediatric Neurology, Neuro-Oncology, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Epilepsy, and Cognitive Neurology. The emphasis of this elective is on neurological localization, diagnosis and management.
