Seminar in Composition: Masterclass with Julia Wolfe

Focuses on developing a personal musical language, compositional skills, and self- presentation - all key factors in developing a presence in the field of Music Composition. Students create new works for the NYU Contemporary Ensemble. The course includes student presentations of their works-in-progress, presentations of previous works, and engagement with the ensemble. Critique/feedback is offered on form, aesthetics, orchestration, and developing an individual voice, as well as on how composers articulate their ideas to the public.
