Retail Technology and Channel Management: The Chinese Market
New York University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course explores how technology, data, and customer behavior are transforming retail and distribution in China—one of the world’s most innovative commerce environments. Students will learn the fundamentals of channel strategy, retail operations, and efficiency analysis, and then apply these tools to real companies and real business problems. Designed with hands-on learning at its core, the course includes a company or field visit, an industry guest speaker, a simulation-based decision exercise, and a final project that incorporates the latest Gen-AI tools for image and video creation. Through cases, discussions, and practical frameworks, students will learn to identify performance gaps, evaluate new technologies, and propose solutions that improve customer experience and business growth. By the end of the semester, students will be able to think like modern marketers—analyzing data, questioning assumptions, and building channel and retail strategies suited for a fast-changing digital marketplace.
