Catalog description

This course provides an illustrative view on material properties and how they affect design decisions. Detailed static and variable (fatigue) failure theories applicable to any product are presented. Specific approaches to classic examples such as fasteners and welds are introduced. The fundamental aspects of the structural numerical modeling theory (e.g., FEA) are also covered. The course concludes with proper 2D dimensioning practice. | Prerequisites: ME-UY 2273 . Anti-requisites: ME-UY 3233
