Precalculus is a function-centered course that prepares students for the calculus sequence and further quantitative study in science, engineering, and economics. The course begins with a brief review of real numbers and algebraic expressions. The central focus of the course is the study of functions including polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, using their algebraic, numerical, and graphical representations along with selected applications. Additional topics include sequences and systems of linear equations, providing a solid foundation for university-level calculus. Throughout the course, students cultivate mathematical maturity by strengthening logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through progressive engagement with mathematical ideas. Emphasis is placed on mathematical rigor and precise communication.
