Catalog description

This online course provides students with the opportunity to design a research paper on a topic of interest in the student’s field of study, with guidance from the professor and class content. This course introduces students to research designs, data collection, data analysis, in the application of the scientific method. Students will also review the protocols of ethical research and will adhere to those principles in the research methodology. The class is designed to assist students in developing a variety of skills, knowledge, and attitudes concerning research, and will enhance their skills in inquiry and decision making. The course will help students develop an understanding of research and its role in quality improvement, expansion of knowledge, evidence-based decision making, and the evolution of the use of technology in their field of study. Students will examine multiple strategies used by professionals in manipulating data for sound decision-making. To facilitate this process, students will be taught how to manipulate qualitative and quantitative data in a research project on topics that are relevant to their field of study.
