Catalog description

"Recognizing patterns is how we make sense of the world. It is this that distinguishes signal from noise, sense from senselessness, and one feeling from another. This class investigates the emotional impact of patterns in our lives, computational techniques in crafting patterns, and ways in which these patterns can be translated into experiences that can be felt. We will play with our brains’ trained pattern recognition mechanisms such as time, grid systems and musical patterns. The goal of the class is for students to create experiences which will heighten the sense of awareness of patterns using computation or computational concepts."
